How Kitchen Cabinets Are Measured?

Mar 2, 2023

Measuring kitchen cabinets is an important step in the process of designing and installing new cabinets. Here are the steps typically involved in measuring kitchen cabinets:

  1. Measure the overall length of the wall where the cabinets will be installed. Use a tape measure to measure from one end of the wall to the other. Note any obstacles, such as windows or doors, that may affect the placement of the cabinets.

  2. Determine the height of the cabinets. Standard kitchen cabinets are usually 34 1/2 inches high. Measure from the floor to the bottom of the upper cabinets or to the desired height for base cabinets.

  3. Measure the depth of the cabinets. The standard depth for base cabinets is 24 inches, while upper cabinets are usually 12 inches deep. However, there are other depths available, such as 18 inches for pantry cabinets.

  4. Measure the width of the cabinets. Standard cabinet widths are 12, 15, 18, 24, 30, 36, and 48 inches. Note that some manufacturers may offer other widths as well.

  5. Consider any customization needed for the cabinets. For example, if you need a corner cabinet, you will need to measure the diagonal distance from the corner to the wall. If you want a cabinet with a built-in appliance, such as a microwave, you will need to measure the size of the appliance to ensure that it will fit.

It is important to measure carefully and accurately to ensure that the cabinets fit properly and look great in your kitchen. If you are unsure about how to measure your cabinets, it may be best to consult with Lion Cabinets and Countertops Showroom.
